What should I bring to an initial estate planning meeting?
- Title and Current Balance:
- Bank Account(s) - checking, savings
- Certificate(s) of Deposit (CD)
- Credit Union(s)
- Pension
- Retirement including 401(k), 403(b), IRA (and beneficiary designations)
- Investment Account(s)
- Copies of Stock/Bond Certificates or Statements
- Life Insurance – Face Amount, Owner, Beneficiary and Loan Amount (if any)
- List of Safe Deposit Box - Locations and Numbers
- Family Information –
- Family Tree from your grandparents to your grandchildren; include dates of birth, marriage and death if known (this does not need to be written out)

- Divorce decree and/or custody order
- Real Estate – Copies of Deeds to any property, wherever situated
- Copies of Current Estate Plan documents
You may not have all the information - that’s ok! Please bring what you do have. It is better to have too much information, rather than not enough, so bring a document even if you are not sure whether it is important.
